Everton FC were founded in 1878
as a church team, under the name of St Domingo's
FC.
When Everton changed their name from St.
Domingo's in 1879, they were only one year
old and played on an open pitch in Stanley
Park.
Everton were originally nicknamed the "Black
Watch", they played at Anfield and
wore all black shirts.
Everton's first official game was against
a team called St Peter's, played at the
local Stanley Park on December 20, 1879.
